Labor Day: Beat the DOG and Patriot Golf Day
As a reminder, we will be having a "Beat the DOG" competition on Labor Day, September 6th.

Once again, this year we will be participating in Patriot Golf Day. By participating in Patriot Golf Day, you are helping to provide scholarship support to the children of our military men and women who have been killed or disabled serving our great nation.

Cart Rules
Just a reminder that carts are allowed to go 90 degrees on all holes except the par 3's. Please keep your carts at least 20 yards from the greens. Thank you.

COUNCIL FIRE GREENS

THE PROBLEM

As everyone knows we have suffered through one of the hottest summers in a very long time. Although this is great weather for bermuda grass, it is not so kind to bent grass. Some weather history: This summer has included 78 days above 90 degrees, and 42 of those days were 95 degrees or higher. There have been 680 hours of 90 degrees or higher compared to 169 hours in 2009. These conditions have caused the green to become very stressed, thus resulting in the decline of grass on all greens and loss of grass on several greens.

THE SOLUTION

The only solution is re-seeding the greens along with cooler temperatures. So on Tuesday, September 7th(the day after Labor Day) the golf course will close to aerify and re-seed the greens. We are scheduling to reopen on Saturday September 18th, although, that time could be extended by a few days if the recovery of the greens is slower than expected. We will keep you posted on how things are going. We have decided to start with the putting green this week as this will allow us to try different options and seed rates that work best allowing for proper procedures to be in place when we begin work on September 7th. During the period when the golf course is closed the driving range, golf shop, and clubhouse will continue to operate during our normal business hours.

Thanks so much for your support and understanding of the challenges we have faced this year. Our goal and mission continues to provide outstanding conditions, and we are committed to do whatever it takes to accomplished this,
